On the Air with No Fear

George Brash is a veteran radio broadcaster with more than four decades of experience, specializing in news, commentary, information, and global music for Caribbean and American audiences across the Tri-State area—New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

He is the host of CultureZone Radio, a multicultural program that airs on WPAT 930 AM every Saturday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Over the years, George has interviewed a wide range of political figures, musicians, and entrepreneurs, while also providing weekly live coverage of major news developments affecting both the Tri-State area and the Caribbean. His approach blends objective reporting with a conversational, engaging style, encouraging listeners to call in and share their diverse perspectives.

George’s journey began as a Jamaican immigrant, born at Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. At just six weeks old, he was raised by his aunt and uncle in Mandeville after his mother relocated to the United States in search of better opportunities and to build a strong foundation for her family. This separation lasted until George’s teenage years. In 1972, he and his sister migrated from Jamaica, West Indies, to Queens, New York, in pursuit of the “American Dream” and a journey of self-reflection and discovery.

Upon arriving in New York, George quickly immersed himself in academic and extracurricular activities at Newtown High School. He excelled in biology and choir and distinguished himself in track and field. Following his graduation, he enlisted in The United States Marine Corps, viewing the experience as a stepping stone toward a greater purpose he would later fulfill.

After completing his military service, George continued his education at LaGuardia Community College, Medgar Evers College, and Crown Business Institute. Driven by a deep interest in broadcasting, he secured an internship at WNYE, where he gained valuable hands-on studio experience.

George also benefited from the mentorship of pioneering broadcasters such as Ken Williams at WRTN and the late Frankie Crocker at WBLS, whose guidance helped him refine his craft and develop his distinctive on-air voice.

Guided by his motto, “On the Air with No Fear,” George Brash continues to broadcast with passion, resilience, and purpose, proving that his journey in radio is far from over.
