Weeksville Heritage Center

For generations, Weeksville Heritage Center has stood as a symbol of Black resilience, self-determination, and community. Today, it remains a place where history isn't just preserved, it inspires healthier lives, stronger neighborhoods, and a future our ancestors dreamed was possible.

Some places preserve history.

Weeksville Heritage Center helps us imagine the future.

For the past several years, Weeksville has served as the home of The Black Man's Health Festival®, welcoming hundreds of community members through its gates, not simply to celebrate our history, but to create healthier futures together.

Every June, I watch families arrive, elders reconnect, young people discover new wellness resources, and Black men receive health screenings they may have otherwise postponed.

There's something incredibly powerful about having those experiences on sacred ground.

Weeksville reminds us that our ancestors built communities rooted in resilience, ownership, education, and hope.

Today, those same values continue through cultural programming, educational initiatives, and partnerships that strengthen Brooklyn every day.

Our partnership has become much more than providing a venue.

It’s become a shared commitment to preserving Black history while helping write a healthier next chapter.

If you've never visited Weeksville Heritage Center outside of one of our events, I encourage you to spend a day there.

Walk the grounds.

Tour the historic houses.

Attend a program.

You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for where we’ve been—and where we’re going.
